Wendy Moyer is a textile artist who creates three dimensional nature art using recycled fabrics. These textile creations are made from 100% recyclable new clothes found in the mercados of Mexico.
When my work is going well, I am filled with a sense of reckoning and a connection with what I imagine as nature’s alter ego. I try to give birth to her second self by applying organic characteristics to artificial and more structural ‘textiles’ – a kind of evolution to secure nature’s survival in an urban landscape. Artfully, proportions of scale are compromised, patterns or textures applied and uncommon mediums either modified or revealed. At first glance the altered state may go unnoticed, but with each new look the subtle differences between the artistic reality and our own are disclosed.
